Mi-Jung Lee is an award winning reporter and anchor for CTV News Vancouver. It’s her dream job.
Her investigative reports have won numerous RTDNA awards for excellence in journalism. The investigations included a report on massage parlours that sell sex and one business’s attempt to defraud taxpayers. Mi-Jung has uncovered how one “natural health doctor” claimed she can cure cancer. She and her team have also done hidden camera investigations into how casinos fail to protect problem gamblers, essay mills and endangered shark fins.

She began her broadcast career in 1990 as a reporter and part-time anchor on Victoria’s CHEK-TV. She joined BCTV in 1992 where she reported and anchored. At BCTV, she was nominated for a Jack Webster Award for ‘Best TV Reporting in BC’.

In 1998, she joined Vancouver Television as the co-anchor of VTV Live at 6. In 2008, she hosted CanadaAM: Western edition. Mi-Jung was the anchor and producer of CTV News at 11:30 p.m. from 2001 to 2010.

Born in Choon Chun, South Korea, she has lived in Vancouver since she was four. She majored in English Literature at the University of British Columbia. After getting her B.A., she was off to Ryerson University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree in Journalism.

In 2008, Mi-Jung travelled to Brazil as an ambassador for World Vision’s Vancouver Campaign for Children. She continues to volunteer with several local charities and organizations. In 2013, Lee battled breast cancer.  Since then she has shared her story to raise awareness about the disease.

When she’s not chasing a story, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons.
